Since 1969 the Mission of the EMPA has been to increase recognition of the product of the working motorsports photographers, writers, and assorted audio/visual racing media.

To increase positive interactions between race tracks, sanctioning bodies and the working racing media.

And to honor deserving individuals who make or have made outstanding contributions to Motorsports and to enshrine the memories and motorsports career achievements of those who excelled in motorsports to the point of being legendary in the EMPA Hall of Fame.

At the yearly EMPA convention 
members are given an opportunity to receive information first-hand from noted racing personalities, thereby gaining a greater perspective of new developments in the motor racing world.

​A regular newsletter also keeps members informed of the happenings within the organization.
