Judge’s Comments
I’m really impressed with the level of writing and your ability to describe your subject matter in great detail.
It’s obvious that you all share a passion for racing and that comes through loud and clear in each and every article submitted. If you’re excited about writing, your readers will be too.
Race report stories can be written a little tighter, more concise. Paint a picture for me with your words as to what you see. You don’t need to get bogged down describing every turn in great detail.
I’d rather read a comment or two from a driver what he was thinking as he made his move in Turn 3, the pivotal one in the race.
Always have the most important information near the top of your story.
Also, please keep trying to work on tightening your leads. Get my attention right away.
If I get bogged down early in your story, chances are I’ll get bored and put down your story and go to another one.
Also, work to make your transitions as smooth as possible. You don’t want your readers jumping from place to place in your story – keep if flowing.
Thanks for the opportunity to judge your contest and keep up the GREAT work!
